In the closing words of my book, Leading with Significance, I share the power of magnetic culture from the confluence of God, Faith, and Culture. It’s easy to get swallowed up by being too busy, chasing success, feeling stressed, and wondering about our purpose and whether we matter. I have those days too often, do you?
I’ve found that in those moments — the ones where life feels heavy and the question “Do I really matter?” creeps in — a simple pause can shift everything. It’s in that pause, that quiet moment of reflection, where I feel God’s reminder that my purpose isn’t tied to accolades or the hustle. It’s in the small things — the shared smile, the kind word, the way we show up for others — that significance grows.
I’ll be honest, I’ve struggled with forgetting my purpose or being stressed more days than I’d like to admit. But I’ve discovered that positive reflection isn’t just a fluffy feel-good exercise; it’s a lifeline. Reflecting with gratitude for the day’s little wins, letting faith guide my perspective, and trusting that God’s plan for me is far more brilliant than I could imagine — that’s where I find peace.
I look for ways to think positively and overcome self-doubt and negative thoughts. Perhaps you struggle, as I do, to put some of your faith or values into action. Here are a few key concepts that helped me realize that the greatest calling anyone can have is God’s purpose for our lives.
I express my faith by demonstrating love for others. From family members to friends to strangers, am I expressing love in my actions? Am I smiling today? Who will we touch in a loving manner today?
I express my humility in gratitude for all things. Am I being grateful? Am I quick to own my failures or wrong turns? Am I quick to judge others? Who will we express our gratitude to or provide the benefit of good intentions to today?
I express my hope in understanding my purpose. When I focus on my purpose, my hope gives me energy and a positive attitude. Sharing this blog is part of fulfilling my purpose to inspire others to see and realize their full potential. How will we be intentional about our purpose today?
I express my grace in acts of kindness. When I reflect on how much grace God has given me, I’m energized to look for ways to be kind to others. Who will benefit from an act of kindness from us today?
Hope this helps you as much as it does me. I needed it today!
In a world where people are so hungry to find work that matters, we can elevate those around us in different ways. I am now on the path to a bright and fulfilling day; I hope the same for you.
