What Has Changed for You?

CeCe and I have spent a lot of time at home together with the COVID-19 shelter in place orders, as I am sure you have with your family. So when the Governor opened up the restaurants for 50% dining capacity, we were the first in line at our favorite spot. It was delightful, and we reflected on how much we had taken this privilege for granted when we were able to go whenever we wanted.

That’s just one small example of how this pandemic has changed our mindsets and our lives. We are certainly more thankful and less apt to take any blessing for granted. I’ve seen other changes, too.

CeCe will go fly fishing in the clear mountain streams in a split second but has never shown any significant interest in my fishing trips to local lakes and ponds. I love my fishing trips and even enjoy the solitude and thinking time that these trips bring.

Early on in the shelter in place, I invited CeCe to go fishing with me, and surprisingly, she said yes. Then she said yes again and the next time, too. Now, if I back the truck up to the boat CeCe comes running out of the house with her bag, sunscreen and ice chest. Ha!

Just like CeCe changed her mindset about fishing, this pandemic has changed each of us and our actions will decide if we emerge stronger or weaker. Where is our mindset? Are we eagerly pursuing things that will help us #beEvenBetter?
