A Picture of Love

Unfortunately, I am attending the funeral of a dear friend. It’s a beautiful celebration of life, and he has written his eulogy.  I am swept up in his message and the incredible wisdom he shared about what he learned in life.

As the pastor takes the pulpit to deliver the celebration message, I look to my left.  There’s Mom and Dad, holding hands, 67 years of marriage, still madly in love with each other. God impressed upon me at that moment, and I realized how important it is that we love those around us in intentional ways.

It’s the small acts of kindness, caring, appreciation, and respect that make our world a better place. It’s selfless love like Mom and Dad have, and we should all aspire to it.

It really doesn’t matter how we might have failed to love abundantly in the past, what matters is how we express our love and caring today and in the future. Grab the hand of someone you love and share an intentional moment of reflection together. God bless.
