A Season for Everything

By Joey Havens

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

This verse introduces a famous passage that acknowledges the different times and seasons in a person’s life, each with its own purpose and significance.  It reminds us that life is ever-changing, and we must embrace the journey with all its ups and downs.

Subsequent verses detail various times and activities, emphasizing that there is a right time for everything under heaven. It’s a recognition of life’s diverse experiences — both joyful and challenging — and their role in the human journey.

As I reflect on this verse, I am reminded of my own experiences and how each season has brought about a new lesson or opportunity. From moments of success to moments of struggle, each one has shaped me into the person I am today. As I am in the fourth quarter of life, retiring from an amazing career with HORNE, I know God has a purpose for me to continue to serve others. I have peace and joy about this season in life. There is power in these scriptures as we seek God’s calling and purpose for our lives.

It’s strengthening to understand that every phase of our life, every ebb and flow, everything has a purpose and adds value to our ultimate DASH. When we understand this more fully, we can live with more joy, peace and purpose.

The ultimate message for each of us is having a greater and deeper appreciation for the present moment. Realizing that each day, each week and certainly each season are precious gifts for us to enjoy and thrive. How are we showing gratitude and enjoying today? What season are you in?

CeCe, where’s that list of things you wanted me to do today?
